Unsigned Metal Bands You Don’t Want To Miss

April 30, 2021

Unsigned and Unleashed has quickly become one of my favorite series for this blog! I have so much cool music for you from unsigned metal bands across the globe. These are new metal songs that you definitely don’t want to miss!

New Music From Unsigned Metal Bands To Jam To This Month

Don’t forget to headbang with me on today’s episode of The Versatile Virgo Podcast, which is where you can hear the songs listed below. That’s also the only place you’ll hear today’s Mystery Bonus Track From The Past. Make sure to tune in to find out what it is and why we’re talking about it.

1. “Far Too Long” – Severed Illusions

Hailing from the Southwestern UK, Severed Illusions delivers hardcore music that will instantly have you banging your head. The band’s newest single, “Far Too Long” is full of energy and intensity, making it one that I’m positive the pit will go crazy for. All of Severed Illusion’s music, including this new single, is available for streaming or you can purchase it on their bandcamp, iTunes, and Google Play. The band is currently working on booking shows and will be providing further details on their social media. In the meantime, you can still pick up some Severed Illusions merch here.

2. “Sans Frontiers” – Black Light

I love a heavy song that completely engulfs you in a dark intensity when listening. That’s exactly how I feel about this song from Slovakian death thrashers, Black Light. They recently dropped their new EP, Firestealer and “Sans Frontiers” comes off of that release. There are so many cool things going on here. From the unstoppable drumming to vocals that would make Chuck Schuldiner proud, Black Light is a band to watch. And did I mention there’s some pretty sick riffs in here? You can listen to Firestealer, support Black Light, and keep up with them on social media here.

3. “Declaration Of War” – Vicious Attack

The newly released, first full length album from Chicago’s Vicious Attack is truly filled with banger after banger. “Declaration of War” is the title track off of that release, and it’s also one of my favorites on the album. Combining elements of death and thrash, the band unleashes an intense, ferocious brutality in this song that demands it be played loud. Declaration of War is available to stream on Spotify, or grab a physical copy on bandcamp.

4. “Inside the Darkness” – Ashes To Emperor

Ontario’s Ashes to Emperor blend aggressive and melodic elements to create a unique sound that still maintains its heaviness. “Inside the Darkness” is the title track from the metal trio’s new album which drops today. The soaring, smooth riffs in this song combined with harsh vocals and booming drums makes it very atmospheric. It also gives some goth metal vibes, while quite literally bringing you into the darkness. If you’re a fan of bands like Tribulation, you’ll definitely want to give Ashes to Emperor a listen. Their music is ready for you to jam to on these platforms.

5. “Prey” – Mephobia

Austria’s Mephobia is back and bringing the heaviness with their new song “Prey”. It’s a song that’s packed with adrenaline and surrounded by darkness. “Prey” comes off of Mephobia’s recently released, debut album, Reign of the Degenerates, which is available to stream here. You can also help support Mephobia by picking up some merch here on their bandcamp page.

6. “Storm En Drift” – Beyond The Pale

Beyond the Pale, a new metal band from the Netherlands, is composed of former members of the bands Bloodgod, Agonized and Nuestros Derechos, among others. Their debut single “Storm En Drift” is the band’s declaration of love to the independent, underground venues like dB’s in their hometown of Utrecht. And I must say, it’s one hell of a debut because “Storm En Drift” packs a punch!

Speaking of dB’s, the song also appears on the charity compilation album, Plagued – Decibels for dB’s. All proceeds from the sale of the album go to directly supporting this independent venue, which has suffered some serious setbacks due to the Covid 19 pandemic. They’re in need of dire help from the metal community to survive and if you’d like to help support this cause, you can pick up a copy here. And make sure to keep an eye out for what’s to come from Beyond the Pale on their website, bandcamp, or social media.
