March 29, 2021

Happy New Music Monday my fellow metalheads! This week Gojira delivered another amazingly heavy new track called “Amazonia” that we’ll be exploring. You’ll also discover the latest heavy new tracks from VEXED and more!

New Music Monday 3/26/21: Gojira’s “Amazonia” & More!

New Music Monday with "Amazonia"

Don’t forget to listen along with today’s episode of The Versatile Virgo Podcast. It’s also the only place you’ll be able to hear today’s Mystery Bonus Track From The Past, so make sure to tune in to find out what it is and why we’re talking about it.

1. “Amazonia” – Gojira

I didn’t think it was humanly possible to be anymore excited for the new Gojira album than I already have been. But then “Amazonia” was released, and I realized I was wrong. It’s the second single Gojira has released from their upcoming, highly anticipated album, Fortitude. In “Amazonia”, Gojira addresses the devastating destruction of the Amazon Rainforest, and how it has impacted those that inhabit it.

All proceeds from the single are being donated to The Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil. In addition to that, Gojira has also launched two campaigns to raise funds for the organization. One is this auction through Propeller, where they have enlisted the help of other metal heavy weights. The items up for grabs are Joe Duplantier’s guitar, Randy Blythe’s motorcycle helmet, and a hand-engraved bass donated by Robert Trujillo. The second is this limited edition poster in which all proceeds will be donated to the AIPD. You can also preorder Gojira’s new album Fortitude before it’s released on April 30th here.

2. “Epiphany” – VEXED

The UK’s, Vexed, are set to release their debut full length album, Culling Culture, on May 21st. “Epiphany” is the latest single we’re getting to hear off of that release, and it has me super excited for what’s to come. “Epiphany” has more melodic elements than the band’s prior single, “Hideous”. Yet, it still manages to keep the same level of ferocious intensity. You can preorder the band’s new album, Culling Culture, here.

3. “Hyperthermic/Accelerate” – Lamb of God

“Hyperthermic/Accelerate” is one of two bonus tracks that you can find on the newly released deluxe edition of Lamb of God’s self titled album. This release also includes a live album and DVD from Lamb of God’s live stream last fall, in addition to an encore featuring the live debut of “The Death of Us”. You can pick up the deluxe edition of Lamb of God’s self titled album here.

Lamb of God’s self titled album was one of my best metal albums of 2020. Read more about it and find out what else made the list here.

4. “Mass Psychosis” – Memoriam

It’s been two years since the last Memoriam album, Requiem For Mankind, was released. But that changed this weekend with the band’s 4th album, To The End. “Mass Psychosis” comes off of that, which the band has said is a nod to Killing Joke. It’s an intense track which embodies the feeling of coming unhinged. To The End is available everywhere now and you can order a copy here.

5. “Conjuring the Egoist” – Cryptosis

Cryptosis brings some new thrash metal this week with their brutally heavy new track “Conjuring the Egoist”. It’s fast paced and intensely aggressive, making it a perfect track to headbang to this week. You can find “Conjuring the Egoist” on the band’s debut album, Bionic Swarm, which is available everywhere now. Physical copies as well as some Cryptosis merch can be found here.
