My First Slipknot Concert : FCD #5

December 26, 2020

What was it like the first time you saw your favorite musician live? It’s a moment of pure excitement that fans never forget. With Slipknot being one of the first bands that turned me into a metalhead, my first Slipknot concert was a BIG deal. I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew it was going to epic.

Slipknot is the huge band that they are today, in my opinion, largely due to the “show” aspect of their presence. Anyone that’s seen them in concert will tell you that they put on an amazing live show that is completely unique to them only. In this week’s Fan Concert Diary from 2008, fellow metalhead Pav tells us about his first Slipknot concert in Munich, Germany. :

Fan Concert Diary #5: My First Slipknot Concert

In 2008, Slipknot gave us the ‘All Hope Is Gone’ album and, of course, a world tour. Sadly they didn’t have a date for my country, Czech [Republic], so I got my ticket for November in Munich, Germany. [The show] was sold out at Zenith Halle for about 6,000 headbangers. It was a cool venue that looked like a big warehouse. I’d been looking forward to some moshpits with my German neighbors and it happened! When Children Of Bodom and Machine Head are opening for Slipknot, it means there will be a huge moshpit.

Corey Taylor is my FAVORITE musician and singer ever. When Santa’s hat landed on stage, he had it straight on and kept screaming to us, “DO YOU WANT SOME MORE MOTHERFUCKERS?” It was also the first time I’ve ever seen Slipknot live. When “Spit It Out” began, I was like “WTF is going on? Am I in the middle of a crowd that’s going to JUMPTHEFUCK UP?” Bang on! I was there bouncing around just in shorts (in the end of November). The next morning, I was smiling like someone who just lost their virginity.  It was a brilliant evening.
