Butcher Babies release “Yorktown” & more! : NMM

February 15, 2021

Hello and Happy New Music Monday! This week’s playlist features songs that are all very different from each other. However, each one of these songs I consider to be standout tracks because they’re so different from what we’re used to. Join me this week on this trip to “Yorktown” while we rock out to these heavy new tracks.

All Aboard the “Yorktown” Express!: New Music Monday for the week of 2/15/21

Before we get started, don’t forget that you can listen along with my Spotify playlist. It has all of these songs lined up for you so you can just hit play.

1. “Bystander” – Sumo Cyco

Sumo Cyco’s new song “Bystander” will definitely be stuck in your head this week. It’s infectious heavy, yet catchy energy is impossible to deny. One of the coolest things about this song though is it combines so many different styles even outside of the metal genre, and Sumo Cyco still manages to blend it seamlessly. “Bystander” comes from the Canadian alt metallers’s new album ‘Initiation’, which is set to be released on May 7th. You can preorder it here in the meantime.

2. “Yorktown” – Butcher Babies

Like many Butcher Babies fans, I too have been anxiously waiting for “Yorktown” to drop after seeing the band’s teasers on Instagram. I really love all 3 of the new singles that they’ve released so far. But when “Yorktown” was finally released, it quickly became my favorite. The band’s latest heavy new track is an instant energy booster and one that will force you to get up and move. It also features a solo from Five Finger Death Punch guitarist, Andy James. Butcher Babies are also set to release a music video for “Yorktown” today. Make sure to check out their youtube channel so you don’t miss it.

3. “Witches Burn” – The Pretty Reckless

The Pretty Reckless just released their highly anticipated new album ‘Death By Rock and Roll’ and I’ve been jamming to it all weekend. “Witches Burn” is my absolute favorite track off of the band’s new record. It’s dark, spooky, and gives off a grunge vibe that Taylor Momsen completely nails. ‘Death By Rock and Roll’ is available everywhere now. Physical copies have been selling out though so I wouldn’t wait on this one. Make sure to get your order in here.
