New Music Monday Set List For The Week of 4/19/21

NMM Featuring "The Witch" By Nocturnal Pestilence

Don’t forget to listen along with today’s episode of The Versatile Virgo Podcast. It’s also the only place you’ll be able to hear today’s Mystery Bonus Track From The Past, so make sure to tune in to find out what it is and why we’re talking about it.

1. “The Witch” – Nocturnal Pestilence feat. Nicol Hofmanová

Nocturnal Pestilence teamed up with Nicol Hofmanová of Stellaris to bring us this brutally heavy new track, “The Witch”. It comes from Nocturnal Pestilence’s upcoming split EP with Noisebleed called Chirality. Their new EP will drop this coming May. But in the meantime we’ll keep jamming to “The Witch” as well Nocturnal Pestilence’s other releases here on Spotify or Tidal.

2. “Into The Storm” – Gojira

At this point, the term “highly anticipated” is a complete understatement for how excited Gojira fans are for their new album. Trust me I know, because I am one of those fans. They already released multiple amazingly heavy new singles leading up to this release. But now I’d say Gojira has fans pretty much foaming at the mouth for Fortitude to drop after releasing “Into The Storm”. It’s a song that’s filled with dark and powerful heaviness, the heart of which is fueled by Mario Duplantier’s INSANE drumming. Fortitude won’t drop until April 30th, but you can preorder or presave it here in the meantime.

3. “Disruptor” – Fear Factory

Speaking of highly anticipated releases, heavy music fans have been anxiously waiting to hear the new music Fear Factory has been working on. This week we’re getting our first taste of what’s to come from this iconic metal band with their new song “Disruptor”. It’s the first new song Fear Factory has released in over 5 years.

“Disruptor” comes off of Fear Factory’s upcoming 10th album, Aggression Continuum, which will be available on June 18th. Last year the band’s vocalist, Burton C. Bell, announced he had left Fear Factory. However, Aggression Continuum will be the last Fear Factory album that we hear Bell on vocals. You can preorder Aggression Continuum here before it’s released in June.

4. “2 Middle Fingers” – State of Mine

Already dreading this week? Haven’t had your coffee yet? State of Mine’s “2 Middle Fingers” is the no holds barred track that will get you through whatever shit you have to conquer this week. Also, as someone who has worked customer service the majority of their life and whose husband is a mechanic, I just want to take a moment to say that State of Mine’s music video for this song is probably one of the best videos I’ve seen in a long time. I highly recommend my other customer service peeps check it out here on the band’s Youtube. At the very least though, you’ll definitely want to have “2 Middle Fingers” on your playlist this week. Make sure to download or stream it on these platforms.

5. “Necrogenic Resurrection” – Cannibal Corpse

The new Cannibal Corpse album, Violence Unimagined, has finally arrived and it was so worth the wait! “Necrogenic Resurrection” comes off of that, which is an absolute beast of a track bringing raw intensity and brutal aggression. You can order or stream Violence Unimagined here.

6. “Toxic Freedom” – Go Ahead And Die

Go Ahead and Die will release their debut, self titled album on June 11th, which is where you’ll find “Toxic Freedom”. In regards to the new track, Max Cavalera has said, “Toxic Freedom is about police corruption, police brutality, and police racism. It can be seen and felt all around the world. It is about authority killing minorities.” Preorders for Go Ahead and Die are available here.
