NEW METAL SONGS OF December 2021: MONTHLY HIGHLIGHTS

“The King” – Fearmonger

Who would’ve thought we’d be living in a time where there’s a robot that wants to have a baby? And while new advances in technology can be exciting, there’s also the other side to that coin where the threat of robots and artificial intelligence taking over is a very real thing. That’s exactly what Finland’s Fearmonger explores in their crushingly heavy new single. “The King” is brutal, intense, and at a times, otherworldly, as it roars hailing the new man-made god. This song is the first single Fearmonger have released from their upcoming debut album. And if “The King” is any indication on what the rest of the record will sound like, Fearmonger is a band you’ll want to keep up with in 2022. While we’re waiting for what’s to come, Fearmonger does have some merch you can grab in the meantime here.

“Plot Twist” – Opensight

And speaking of 2022 releases that we can’t wait to drop, Opensight is gearing up to release their upcoming album, Mondo Fiction, on February 4th. “Plot Twist” comes off of that, following the band’s two prior singles, “Thunderball” and “Stained Remains”. And much like those previous releases, “Plot Twist” is more than just another metal song. Opensight’s music feels more like an adventure, filled with exciting twists and turns that suck the listener into the band’s cinematic metal universe. Set against the backdrop of a jazzy crime/thriller film, “Plot Twist” isn’t just for metalheads but also fans of heavy rock and prog alike. Frankly, there is no other band quite like Opensight. So if you haven’t listened to them yet, don’t wait any longer. Watch the video for “Plot Twist”, check out Opensight’s upcoming tour dates, or pick up some merch here.

“Ominous” – Phenomy

Lebanese thrash/groove metallers Phenomy are also set to release their forthcoming album, Syndicate Of Pain. “Ominious” is the third wildly heavy single Phenomy has released from that, giving us a taste for what’s to come. This banger of a track depicts the tale of paranoid patient whose possessed by internal voices that are now taking control, which ultimately leads towards gruesome consequences. This asylum insanity will continue on Syndicate Of Pain, which is a concept album that tells the story an asylum ran by Dr. Anton Shuman, a mad scientist who manipulates criminals and patients that are labeled “insane” in his facility. Phenomy’s new album won’t drop until March 3rd, 2022. However in the meantime, listen to “Ominous” as well as Phenomy’s previous releases on these platforms.
