New Music Monday

Happy New Music Monday everyone! This week’s top 6 new heavy music songs are going to vary in style a bit. But it wouldn’t be called The Versatile Virgo if I did everything the same! The first half leans more in an alternative metal, post grunge direction. As it goes on though, the tracks continue to get more brutal, which includes the intensly heavy return of Ektomorf.

Before we get started, don’t forget that you can listen along with my Spotify playlist. All of these songs are lined up for you there so you can just hit play.

Ektomorf New Music Monday

This Week’s Playlist: New Music From Ektomorf & More!

1. “For You” – Lung Glass feat. Dan Goldsworthy

Scotland’s Lung Glass is thankfully still accepting beers in exchange for riffs. Their newest single, “For You”, is by far their most versatile with some added melodic elements. But don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s not heavy. “For You” also contains a soaring guitar solo that’s the best one of the week. This is 4th single the band has released this year. So you don’t miss out on future releases, make sure to keep up with Lung Glass on their social media.

2. “Nobody’s Favorite” – Vertilizar

Vertilizar bring us some post-grunge and alternative metal with their killer new track “Nobody’s Favorite”. This is one of the new songs the band had produced with Aljoscha Sieg (Any Given Day, Bury Me Alive) after most shows were cancelled earlier this year due to Coronavirus. There’s no word yet on if the Austrian metallers will be dropping a new album. However, you can purchase their previous releases on their website in the meantime.

3. “Demon In Disguise” – BrokenRail

Alabama’s BrokenRail just released their new album ‘Beautiful Chaos’ which is where you’ll find “Demon In Disguise”. This song booms with heaviness right from the start, blending clean vocals and powerful screams. You can purchase a copy of BrokenRail’s new album on their bandcamp page.

4. “Primal Rage” – Sister

This is where the playlist starts to a take an extremely heavy turn. “Primal Rage” is the latest single Sister has dropped off of their upcoming album ‘Vengeance Ignited’. It’s raw, unfiltered, and completely brutal. This absolute beast of a song is one of my favorites of 2020 so far. Sister’s new album isn’t due to be released until February 2021. While you’re waiting though, you can check out their previous releases here.

5. “Reborn” – Ektomorf

Ektomorf returns with a thrash metal influence in their new single “Reborn”. It’s the title track off the band’s upcoming album set to be released on January 22, 2021. “Reborn” is intensely heavy, but it also has a guitar interlude in the middle that gives it a nice change of pace. Ektomorf’s new album is available for preorder here, including a limited edition vinyl bundle.

6. “Is Survived By” – Boundaries

“Is Survived By” comes off Boundaries’ new album ‘Your Receding Warmth’. The deeply intense energy on this track escalates even further in its brutal breakdowns. If you’re a fan of The Acacia Strain, you will probably like this track. You can pick up a copy of ‘Your Receding Warmth’ along with some merch here.
