Lita Ford’s highly underrated album ‘Dangerous Curves’ will turn 30 years old this November. This week’s heavy metal outfit is inspired by the album’s iconic cover shot featuring the hard rock queen herself.
Who Is Lita Ford?
At just 16 years old, Lita Ford joined the iconic all female rock band The Runaways, officially starting her career in the rock music world. Over 45 years later, she is still considered one of the hard rock world’s greatest artists. She’s also one of the first women in the genre to have an impressive solo career along with her fellow Runaways bandmate, Joan Jett. In a time when rock music was a VERY male dominated world, Lita Ford’s music stood out because it spoke for itself. Ford took the stereotype that women couldn’t rock as hard as men and tore it to pieces, making her a trailblazer for future generations of women in heavy music.
About Lita Ford’s Album ‘Dangerous Curves’
Lita Ford’s 1991 album ‘Dangerous Curves’ has that classic 80’s glam metal energy that fans know and love. However, it also has a bit more of a darker feel than other albums in the genre especially on songs like “Black Widow”. It’s songs like this that will be stand out tracks for fans of Alice Cooper.
Had ‘Dangerous Curves’ been released earlier, it’d likely be widely hailed as a classic. Unfortunately it’s an album that was overshadowed by the grunge movement that was taking over the radio airwaves at the time. With that being said, it’s still an album that’s a fun listen and one that could be spun any day of the week. Just be ready to sing along because it’s impossible not to.
The Outfit Inspired By The Album Cover Art
On Lita’s album cover, she’s wearing a short black mini skirt, a cropped leather jacket, and high heels. This is a look that could easily be put together with items from your own closet. That’s exactly what I did here with some of items that I’ve had for a long time. Don’t be afraid to experiment with stuff you already have.

The two most prominent fashion features of the ‘Dangerous Curves’ album are Lita’s jacket, which looks to be cropped, and her heels. These are two pieces that I think should be in everyone’s closet and you most likely already have them. I don’t have any black skirts that are short like the one in the photo. Instead, I went with my Vagabond Kreations studded wiggle skirt. This skirt is so comfortable yet still gives the same optics. I paired it with my Vagabond Kreations studded bralette. If you do not have one of these in your closet, I highly recommend it. They’re very versatile and can be worn in a variety of different outfits.
Bralettes are also usually pretty reasonably priced so you get more bang for your buck. All Vagabond Kreations items are one of a kind. However, there is usually at least one bralette released in each collection so keep an eye out for future releases!
