Top New Heavy Songs of November 2022

November 30, 2022

Things always seem to slow down a bit as the year draws to a close. But this month’s New Music Monthly playlist proves that heavy music never loses its steam. I mean after all, we did get some brand new Metallica that is the epitome of full throttle. Plus we even had intensely heavy album releases from bands like Ingested and so many others. And if you missed any of it, don’t worry. Because this list of the top new heavy songs of November 2022 has you covered.

As always, some songs and/or bands from this month’s playlist have also been added to some of my other playlists like Underground Metal and Metal Women

Listen to my New Music Monthly playlist and check out the Monthly Highlights below for more details on some of these new and noteworthy releases. And don’t forget to vote for your favorite heavy new tracks of the month at the bottom of the page! Voting will end just before next month’s edition, at 12am EST on December 14th. The songs with the most votes at that time will be added to our Best Songs of 2022 list at the end of the year.

NEW HEAVY SONGS OF November 2022: MONTHLY HIGHLIGHTS

“Soap Bath” – After Smoke Clears

Fans of old school Slipknot and The Devil Wears Prada will love, “Soap Bath”. The newest track from After Smoke Clears brings the most high octane intensity that we’ve heard from the band so far. Wild, vicious, and speedy, “Soap Bath” is a banger that will leave you wanting more. All that in addition to it’s dark, horror themed elements really drive home the message behind this song.

As the band’s bassist Aaron Dohnt describes it, Soap Bath is a “metaphor for the residue left over from the lye in soap combined with cleaning off old dirt. Even though you’ve progressed and emerged as a new person, the stains remain. It’s a song about embracing who you are and the journey you’ve made to arrive there, but also that your past mistakes, vanity, beliefs, and choices don’t determine your identity and you aren’t bound to them.” Watch the band’s official video for “Soap Bath” here on their Youtube channel.

“Moments of Clarity” – Narrow Head

Much like last month’s inclusion of Boston Manor’s “Crocus”, I questioned whether this song was heavy enough to include on NMM. But I just love “Moments of Clarity” from Narrow Head so much that I had to share it. Sure, there’s pop-forward elements here. But it’s something that just further proves that heavy music knows no bounds. This song reminds me SO much of a 90s grunge/alt rock era track. But think more along the lines of The Smashing Pumpkins. “Moments of Clarity” is the title track for Narrow Head’s upcoming album, which drop on February 10th. Preorders as well as Narrow Head merch are available here.

“Jack and Jill” – Saul

I first discovered Saul thanks to their song “Brother”. And I’ve been looking forward to new music from them since. “Jack and Jill”, though, has more of those electronic elements that we hear frequently in modern hard rock and even metalcore- in comparison to the former. But while it’s different than the song that made me first love their music, it’s cool to see this side of Saul and how they’re progressing as a band. I also think “Jack & Jill” shows us an even heavier side of Saul than we may have seen before. In addition to releasing new music, Saul is currently on tour with VRSTY through December 10th. For tickets to their upcoming shows, merch and more, check out Saul’s website.
