NEW HEAVY SONGS OF August 2022: MONTHLY HIGHLIGHTS

“The Fear” – After Smoke Clears feat. CJ McMahon

After Smoke Clears is back with their monstrously dark and heavy banger, “The Fear“. Full of beastly screams, otherworldly growls, and instrumentals that are so powerful they could bring you back to life, this song is an in your face, no holds barred kind of track. Its vicious aggression, in part, comes from the song’s speed, and that’s both instrumentally and vocally. The other part of that is the intense vocal performance from After Smoke Clears vocalist Nick Hurford and CJ McMahon of Thy Art Is Murder. Watch the band’s video for “The Fear” on their YouTube channel. Also, don’t forget to check out the band’s website to grab some ASC merch.

“The Deceiver” – Crazy Mad Ride

Crazy Mad Ride immediately caught my attention with the dark and mysterious opening riffs on their new track, “The Deceiver”. But then this track explodes! It very much gives an old school thrash and death vibe, which makes it that much more awesome. “The Deceiver” is currently only available on YouTube so make sure to watch the band’s trippy, performance style video below that embodies this high energy track. There’s also a Spotify release planned for September 9th so when that time comes to check out this song there. And in the meantime, you can still listen to their previous release “3amattic” there too! (Which was also already voted as one of the Best Songs of 2022 so far on a previous edition, btw.)

“Redemption” – Pat Reilly

Solo guitar virtuoso Pat Reilly is back with his signature powerhouse riffs in “Redemption”. This instrumental track proves that music doesn’t always need words to tell a story, as Pat’s playing does that all on its own. Between his technical precision, and riffs that soar, wane, and punch in all the right places, “Redemption” is a high energy track that will leave you wanting more. Check out Pat Reilly’s website to pick up some merch and explore his other services including session work and audio production.

“Frontier” – StonedHenge

Fans of heavy stoner rock and metal are going to love “Frontier”, the newest track from Stonedhenge. From the moment the guitar starts to strum out some chuggy, sludgy riffs you’re hooked. But “Frontier” also slides into some wildly heavy speediness that’s sure to get you pumped. So embrace that hazy fog you’ve been pulled into with this track, and embrace it. “Frontier” comes from the upcoming StonedHenge release, 2500 B.C. Pre-orders are available here.

“Evil Eyes” – Deliverance GM

I love the video Deliverance GM put out for their new song, “Evil Eyes”, which almost reminds me Alice In Chains’ “Again” in terms of it being very vibrant. That vibrance blends with a grungy metal feel that still holds an overall futuristic vibe. And that grungy metal feel from the video is exactly what Deliverance GM’s “Evil Eyes” gives you. The speed of this track makes it a thrilling, fun listen that’s sure to have you banging your head. Watch the video for Deliverance GM’s “Evil Eyes” below and check out their previous releases here on BandCamp.
