New Music Monday

Happy New Music Monday everyone! This week we have a bunch of new music spanning across several different metal subgenres including sludge and sympho-tech metal. We’ve also got one of the new tracks off of the new ‘Dines X Heafy’ EP.

New Music Monday 12/7/2020: New Music Dines X Heafy and More!

Before we get started, don’t forget that you can listen along with my Spotify playlist. It has all of these songs lined up for you so you can just hit play.

1. “Torture” – Genus Ordinis Dei

I purposely put this song at the top of this week’s playlist because it’s epic beginning is the best way to start anything, especially a Monday. “Torture” comes off of Genus Ordinis Dei’s newly released album ‘Glare of Deliverance’. The orchestral elements only further this song’s suspenseful intensity.

The symphonic death metal band’s new album is actually an opera, that tells the story of Eleanor and journey through sin and fire. They’ve even created a video series for the album that you can watch here. ‘Glare of Deliverance’ is available everywhere now. You can grab a physical copy along with some merch in the band’s store.

2. “Hands of the Ripper” – Bloody Hammers

Attention all horror rockers! Bloody Hammers will be releasing their new album ‘Songs of Unspeakable Terror’ through Napalm Records on January 15th. “Hands of the Ripper” is the second single from the album that the husband and wife duo have released. It’s dark, gritty, and wildly catchy while fusing horror punk elements. The horror-goth metallers also released a new video for this track which I highly recommend checking out. You can preorder ‘Songs of Unspeakable Terror’ here.

3. “Psychedelic Nightmare” – LGND

For the Fallen Dreams vocalist, Chad Ruhlig, has started his own collaborative project, LGND. The project has a collection of different producers and musicians to create the music. Ruhlig provides the lyrics and vocals.

“Psychedelic Nightmare” is the first track LGND has released from an upcoming EP due out it in 2021. On this specific track, Ruhlig collaborated with former Acacia Strain guitarist, Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz. It’s viciously aggressive and parts of it, particularly the vocals, slightly remind me of early Slipknot (circa Iowa and Self Titled). LGND is working on more songs with various producers and members of The Ghost Inside, Attila, The Browning, and more. While we’re waiting for their next release, make sure to give it a listen on your favorite platform or pick up some merch here.

4. “High Risk Trigger” – Eyehategod

New Orlean’s Eyehategod will be releasing their first new LP in seven years, ‘A History of Nomadic Behavior’, on March 12. “High Risk Trigger” is the album’s lead single. Though the sludge metal titans don’t typically touch on politics, this track focuses on police brutality.

As for the rest of the 12 track album, Vocalist Mike XI Williams says “We’re not a political band, but it was hard not to be affected by the news from the past year. During this recording, I thought a lot about how stupid humanity has become and how America is now completely divided with these people who don’t believe in science and blindly follow liars and nonsensical ideologies. Some of those feelings may have found their way into these songs, but it is mostly subliminal.” ‘A History of Nomadic Behavior’ is available for you to preorder now. You can pick up a copy here.

5. “Judgement Day” – Dark Horse White Horse

“Judgement Day” is the powerful new single from Marcela Bovio’s new sympho-tech metal band, Dark Horse White Horse. When I first heard this, my jaw hit the floor. Marcela’s vocals are out of this world, fueling the track’s raw emotion in an apocalyptic setting. The band is working to release their self titled debut EP, and they need our help!

The songs have already been recorded, but the band is running a campaign to help press the album and give it as much exposure as possible. There are different contribution amounts you can make. Each contribution level comes with different goodies, similar to how Patreon is set up. You can make a contribution and read more about their campaign here.

6. “To Save Me From Myself” – Dines X Heafy

Trivuim’s Matt Heafy has collaborated with guitarist and content creator Jared Dines for their ‘Dines X Heafy’ EP. I love that Matt Heafy has been streaming on Twitch. You have to give him credit for finding new ways to connect with fans and attract new listeners to rock and metal. Not only does this EP blend the worlds of recording artists and online content creators, but it’s also available on Soundtrack by Twitch. This gives Twitch streamers the ability to add licensed music from the EP to their live streams within a 30 day window. The ‘Dines X Heafy’ EP is available everywhere now through Roadrunner Records. You can listen to it on your favorite streaming platform.
