New Music Monday

Start your week off right with these brand new tracks!

1. “One Thousand Painful Stings” – The Acacia Strain feat. Courtney LaPlante

I think I’ve said this before in a previous post but I’ll say it again. Like a fine wine, The Acacia Strain just gets better and better with each release. This past Friday they released their fifth EP ‘Y’ which includes this seriously heavy track featuring Spiritbox vocalist Courtney LaPlante and another banger, “EARTH WILL BECOME DEATH.” After spelling out DECAY with their recent EP releases, they also announced their new album ‘Slow Decay’ will be released on July 24th. It will include all of the 10 songs from the 5 EPs plus 2 new ones and I cannot wait.

“House of Dust” – King 810

King 810 is back with yet another killer track following the recent releases of their other two standalone singles “Hellhounds” and “Dukes.” I’m hoping that they make an album announcement soon because I am so ready for more from them! The new tracks released so far remind me a lot of their album ‘Memoirs of a Murderer’ mixed with some of the influences they experimented with in ‘Suicide King.’ King 810 consistently puts out honest music that always has that classic poetic lyricism that they are known for and mix it with a variety of different styles of music like in this bluesy track, making them one of the most versatile yet severely underrated bands out there right now.

“I’ve Scene God” – Emmure

Emmure just released this aggressive track off of their upcoming new album ‘Hindsight’. The lyrics name drop other bands related to this music scene like Knocked Loose, Attila, and Thy Art Is Murder. I’ve seen different interpretations of people saying this track is a diss to those bands while others are calling it more of a shout out so I’ll let you determine that yourself after you listen to it and read the lyrics. The only problem I have with this track is that it’s making me REALLY want to see Emmure live again but I know it’s unlikely that will be soon due to everything with Covid 19. Something needs to get figured out soon though because this moshing in my living room just isn’t cutting it, especially when I know they put on a killer live show. In the meantime, let the countdown begin for ‘Hindsight’ which will be released on June 26th.

4. “God of Sick Dreams” – Avatar

“God of Sick Dreams” is the second single Avatar has released off of their upcoming album due to arrive on August 7th, ‘Hunter Gatherer.’ It is completely explosive with pounding drums, aggressive vocals, and catchy riffs. Once again, the Swedish metal band does not disappointment and all signs point to an intensely heavy album in our future. While we wait for that though, I will continue jamming to this and “Silence in the Age of Apes” as loud as possible to get my fix.
