Liha Talks New Single & Video “Unleashed”

October 29, 2020

Finnish groove metallers Liha recently dropped an animated music video for their heavy new single “Unleashed”. Guitarist Atte Karm gave me the scoop on their new release and what we can expect from Liha moving forward. Check out the video below!

“The inspiration for the intro riff of “Unleashed” initially came from thrash metal bands like Exodus and Lost Society and the song quickly grew from there. The lyrics describe the primal killer instinct humans have and have learned to control, at least to some degree, and about giving in to those instincts. It’s also about the frustration from the fact that we as a collective have become seemingly more stupid than ever,” said Atte.

“Unleashed” follows the release of the band’s EP ‘Prologue’ which accompanied 2 other music videos. The band says they have a lot of material they’re planning to release including music videos, EPs, and the occasional gig that can be put together in these unprecedented times.

First Introduction to Liha? Here’s What You Should Know

Liha

The Finnish term “Liha” translates to “Flesh” in English, which perfectly symbolizes the band’s raw and aggressive sound. Liha blends groove with bits of thrash mixed in. Their current line up which was solidified a year ago consists of:

Eetu Vehkaoja – Vocals

Atte Karm – Guitar

Miika Kärki – Drums

Roope Hokkanen – Bass

Outside of Liha, the band’s members are still keeping busy with various other projects. Eetu and Atte also play in the grindcore band Fearmonger which released it’s Covid fueled debut EP this past summer. Eetu and Roope also play in the the death metal trio, Enslavery, which dropped their debut album ‘Placitis Infectas’ during the summer as well. Atte and Miika are no longer part of Neurosurgery , but their last work with the band can be found on Neurosurgery’s debut album set to be released in a few months.
