5 New Tracks You Need On Your Playlist

May 13, 2020

Need a little mid week pick me up? Check out these new tracks I’ve been jamming to. I don’t have the rights to post their music here, but all of these songs can be found on Spotify.

1. “The Inner Void” by Dying Empire

This is the 2nd song on Dying Empire’s new album “Samsara” which was just released at the end of last month. Not only does this song pack a punch, but it gives me some Killswitch Engage vibes. It is definitely worth adding into your regular rotation.

2. “Away- Live and Locked Down” by Skywalker

The actual single for “Away” was released in February but the oh so appropriate “live and locked down” version was released mid April 2020. This version is actually how I discovered Skywalker. We’ve all heard bands that put out decent singles but then when it comes to a live version it doesn’t quite match up. Skywalker’s live version of this song is just as awesome as the original, if not better. It’s super catchy and sort of reminds me of my emo kid days, in the best way possible.

3. “Psychic Death” by Spell

Can we all just take a moment to recognize how completely underrated Spell is? This is the first track on Spell’s new album “Opulent Decay” which was just released at the towards the middle/beginning of last month. If you haven’t heard of Spell or listened to their music, I think the title of this song really sums it up. It is witchy, trippy, and just all around perfect.

4. “Cruelty” by City of Souls

This song is on City of Souls’ new album “Synaesthesia” which just came out on May 1st. Vocally it kind of reminds me of Nine Inch Nails, but this song is pretty versatile. It can be aggressive yet also slows down at moments which really highlights the clean vocals.

5. “Shove It Down” by Blended Brew

This is the title track on Blended Brew’s new album which just came out on May 1st. I’m really into grunge-y, southern rock and this song fits the bill for me. It’s a nice change of pace and is something I will be BLASTING all summer long.
