Happy New Music Monday! This weekend was pretty busy with so much going on. Between getting our garden ready and doing some major reorganization, it was exhausting. But the new metal music released this week had me feeling super inspired and definitely helped me push through. Not only did everything get accomplished, but I was so inspired by one song in particular that I couldn’t help but start developing a recipe for it. (More on that soon!) On this week’s New Music Monday, we’re jamming to new Fear Factory, Carnifex, and more!
NMM Playlist For The Week Of 5/17/21: New Fear Factory & More!
Don’t forget to listen along with today’s episode of The Versatile Virgo Podcast. It’s also the only place you’ll be able to hear today’s Mystery Bonus Track From The Past, so make sure to tune in to find out what it is and why we’re talking about it.
“Fuel Injected Suicide Machine” – Fear Factory
I was already pretty excited about new Fear Factory, but now even more so after hearing this new single. “Fuel Injected Suicide Machine” is the brutal banger that you need on your playlist this week. It comes from Fear Factory’s new album, Aggression Continuum, which will drop on June 18th. This will be the last record to feature Burton C. Bell who previously announced his departure from the band. Aggression Continuum can be presaved for streaming or preordered before its release.
“Forged By Neron” – Mastodon
It’s always a good day when there’s new Mastodon to jam to and that’s no different for “Forged By Neron”. You can find it on the soundtrack for DC Comics’ Dark Nights: Death Metal. The soundtrack will first release digitally on June 18th and then physically on July 16th. Preorder it here.
“Blood & Honey” – Cane Hill
Of all the new songs Cane Hill released within this last year, “Blood & Honey” is my favorite. It also might just be one of my favorite songs in their discography. “Blood & Honey” showcases all of the things Cane Hill does so well, from hypnotizing melodies to their aggressively intense energy. And it even includes one of those sweet solos they like to pepper in. “Blood & Honey” comes off of Cane Hill’s upcoming EP, Krewe d’Amour: Volume 2. In the meantime, watch the video for “Blood & Honey” here on the band’s YouTube channel.
“Promises and Kisses” – Dress the Dead
“Promises and Kisses” marks my first introduction to Dress the Dead. When I first heard it, I stopped what I was doing like “who the hell is this?!” It was the first song I knew I was including this week because it’s just that damn good. If you’re a fan of bands like Devilskin, you’ll love Dress the Dead. While we’re waiting for more from Dress the Dead, listen to their previous releases, pick up some merch, or join them on Patreon here.
“Seven Souls” – Carnifex
If you keep up with me on my Instagram stories, you saw me talking about Carnifex’s new song “Seven Souls”. In more words or less, it blew my fucking mind the first time I heard it. I feel that way each time since and I have been jamming to it all weekend. Darkly energetic and vicious, “Seven Souls” puts you in a trance, dragging you straight to hell. It’s the second new single the band have released this year, which has fans hoping for an album announcement. In the meantime, Carnifex has merch up for grabs here.
“Nightfall” – The Devil Wears Prada
When I think of The Devil Wears Prada, I instantly go back to the time I saw them at Warped Tour many years ago, having never listened to them before. To this day, they put on one of the most insane performances I’ve ever witnessed. I’ve been hoping to hear that same level intensity from them, which they definitely accomplished with “Nightfall”. TDWP pulls you into a haunting atmosphere, building the intensity as the song goes on. Nothing falls flat, and it will definitely have you banging your head. “Nightfall” comes off the band’s upcoming EP release ZII which drops on May 21st. Preorder or presave the EP here.
