Metallica Blacklist Album - 10 Best Covers

(Cover Image Credit: “James Hetfield (Metallica)” by Alberto Cabello Mayero is licensed under CC BY 2.0) Metallica’s Blacklist album has finally arrived! It’s full of a wide selection of cover songs from their iconic 1991 self titled release, nicknamed The Black Album. However, it is a bit of a long listen- clocking in at 4 hours and 5 minutes in length. That’s why I’m giving you my list of the 10 best Metallica Blacklist album covers. So if you don’t have a ton of time on your hands to sit down and listen to the whole thing, these are a great place to start!

Check out my list below and watch my video about Metallica’s Blacklist for a more in depth look at this massive release!

The Metallica Blacklist Album : 10 Covers That Every Music Lover Needs To Hear

I love that Metallica’s Blacklist album gives us the opportunity to discover artists that we heavy music fans might not have been exposed to otherwise. The artists below may not all be in the metal genre, but they certainly have an understanding of what it means to keep it heavy.

  1. “Nothing Else Matters” – Chris Stapleton
  2. “Enter Sandman” – Alessia Cara, The Warning
  3. “Sad But True” – Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit
  4. “The Unforgiven” – Ha*Ash
  5. “Nothing Else Matters” – Miley Cyrus, WATT, Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma, Robert Trujillo, Chad Smith
  6. “The Unforgiven” – Moses Sumney
  7. “Through The Never” – Tomi Owó
  8. “The Struggle Within” – Rodrigo y Gabriela
  9. “Nothing Else Matters” – Mon Laferte
  10. “Nothing Else Matters” – Igor Levit

One Final Note

Narrowing it down to a top 10 was more difficult than I thought it would be. That’s because there are so many cool things on Blacklist. There are more “Nothing Else Matters” covers on this list than anything else and it was hard for me not to include them all. If you only listen to one part of this album back to back, please let it be the “Nothing Else Matters” section. After hearing it, I think you’ll agree that it’s easy to see why Elton John said it’s one of the best songs ever written.
