Unsigned & Unleashed : With October Noir & More!

June 4, 2021

The unsigned music world in 2021 knows no bounds. This month’s featured unsigned metal bands from across the globe are a great example as to why. Join me in exploring a cover of an iconic goth metal track from Florida’s October Noir, plus the best new thrash, metalcore, and more from unsigned bands across the globe.

Unsigned & Unleashed: June 2021 With October Noir & More

Don’t forget to headbang with me on today’s episode of The Versatile Virgo Podcast, which is where you can hear the songs listed below. That’s also the only place you’ll hear today’s Mystery Bonus Track From The Past. Make sure to tune in to find out what it is and why we’re talking about it.

“Bad Weather Rituals” – Necromancers DeathTrip

If I could have intro music play when I enter a room, “Bad Weather Rituals” would be it. It’s dark and heavy atmosphere is not only enticing, but completely hypnotizing. Necromancers DeathTrip is a musical exorcism from the icy cold north, inside Sweden’s deep forests, that has awakened after 8 years of rest. The artists behind this ritual want to remain anonymous which just further adds to the allure of this band and their music. “Bad Weather Rituals” is available to stream on Spotify, YouTube, and Bandcamp.

“Concrete” – From The Flame

Canada’s From the Flame caught my ear with their debut album Zerotonin. Several TOOL reminiscent moments can be heard throughout the record which is what first made it standout. But then I heard “Concrete”, and I loved it that much more. With its pulse pounding, catchy chorus, I just couldn’t deny my desire to sing/scream along. Zerotonin is available to stream on Spotify or YouTube.

“The Hell Above” – The Heretic

“The Hell Above” is as aggressive as it is melodic, and that’s only part of what makes it such a cool track. This new song coming from solo artist, The Heretic, booms from the second it starts and then continues to build with intensity. My favorite part though is when things slow down starting around the 3:23 mark and then pick back up. It’s an emotion filled interlude that just soars with power. By the way, when I say solo artist I mean that in the truest sense of the word. Every instrument you hear, the vocals, and the mix and mastering were done by Chris Heretic. “The Hell Above” is available everywhere now, and don’t forget to check out the video for this heavy new track here.

“Fuck It All” – All Against

I had a really hard time narrowing down which song I would feature from All Against’s new album I Am Alive. It has several tracks that I would consider to be favorites and highly recommend giving the album a listen. I ultimately went with “Fuck It All” though because it’s the headbanging anthem I think we all need every now and then. In “Fuck It All” the Portugal based metal band holds nothing back, bringing a pure, raw intensity to the table. I Am Alive is available everywhere now. Stream or purchase it here.

“Love You To Death” – October Noir

When it comes to covers, there are some songs that should only be performed in the original style they were done. This is especially true for Type O Negative covers given how iconic their music is. Needless to say, I’m quite picky about covers in general so when one comes along that’s truly special, it of course catches my attention. That’s exactly what happened with this cover of “Love You To Death” from Florida’s October Noir. From the vocals down to it’s synth-y atmosphere, this band does a great job paying homage to the goth metal icons. October Noir will be releasing their third studio album, Fate, Wine, and Wisteria, on September 22nd, 2021. In the meantime, the band’s merch along with their previous releases are available here on their website.
