Top New Metal Songs of March 2022

March 31, 2022

What a month it has been for heavy music! As always, this list of the top new metal songs of March 2022 narrows it down to the best of the best for you, from unsigned bands to new releases from metal heavy weights we all know and love.

I guess I should start by saying that this New Music Monthly isn’t just limited metal. (In general it’s not limited to just metal so you know) But this month’s list also includes a decent amount of new stoner rock and hard rock that I’ve really been into like Bastardane and YOJIMBO.

This month also delivered some solid album releases from bands like Dark Funeral and Abbath. If you missed my video review of those, check them out on my YouTube channel.

But March 2022 also gave us an AOTY contender, at least for me, because it’s a record that I’ve been jamming to nonstop. And that’s Extinction A.D.‘s Culture of Violence. I’ll be releasing a YouTube video about why they’re a band you should be listening to and a review of the album very soon (hopefully next week). So make sure to subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss it. It’s really hard to choose a favorite track from the album, so one of my many favorites is included on this month’s playlist, too.

I’ve also added a lot of songs and/or bands from this month’s playlist to my Underground Metal playlist. Listen to that here to discover even more underground music that extends well beyond this month’s list of the top new metal songs of March 2022.

“B.L.O.O.D.B.O.R.N”- AZAAB*

Pakistan’s AZAAB are set to release their new album Summoning The Cataclysm on April 15th. “B.L.O.O.D.B.O.R.N” comes off of that, giving us the band’s third single that teases what’s to come. In this heavy new track, the death metal quintet deliver an intensely vicious banger with riffs so electrifying, they’re hypnotic. Preorder the upcoming album or check out the band’s previous releases here. This song is not on Spotify, so make sure to check out the band’s video for “B.L.O.O.D.B.O.R.N” below!

“Ashes of The Past” – Devoid of Life

Speaking of new albums, Norway’s Devoid of Life just released their debut album, Embracing Emptiness this month. The extreme metal trio spent 5 years creating this record and it shows. Devoid of Life delivered a bunch of great tracks to headbang to with this release. “Ashes of the Past”, though, is one of my favorites. It comes in roaring with a brutal intensity that grows even deeper as the song goes on. Listen to Devoid of Life’s new album, Embracing Emptiness, on these platforms.

“The Space-Time Travellers” – OGEZOR

France’s OGEZOR is gearing up to release their new album Distortion Process this spring. And this month, the cyber rock metallers dropped their second single from the forthcoming album called “The Space-Time Travellers”. The song opens with a Wild West style atmosphere that sets the scene before the cyber/electronic element of the song kicks in. “The Space-Time Travellers” is futuristic and apocalyptic with its blend of metal and electronic elements. If you’re a fan of bands like Rammstein or Combichrist, you’ll love this song. Stream “The Space-Time Travellers” on these platforms.

“When The Darkness Comes” – Phenomy

Phenomy kicked off March 2022 with the release of their new concept album, Syndicate of Pain. “When The Darkness Comes”  is one of my favorite tracks off of that release. The prior tracks on Syndicate of Pain are speedy and beastly heavy. But with “When The Darkness Comes”, we’re presented with another side of Phenomy’s sound. It still has dark and venomous energy, but the song has a change in pace that makes it even more moody and haunting. Order a copy of Syndicate of Pain or stream it here.

“Echo Chamber” – Dark Delirium

Pulse poundingly heavy, Dark Delirium’s new track, “Echo Chamber”,  roars with absolute fury. It features a combination of melodic vocals surrounded by deep growls and screams that, with the instrumentals powering them on, makes for a mesmerizing blend of music. “Echo Chamber” is the first new single Dark Delirium have released this year, which follows their 2021 album, Sulphur. Check out the latest edition of 5 Songs That Made Me A Metalhead for my review of that release and see what made Dark Delirium’s list! And don’t forget to check out “Echo Chamber”, as well as the band’s previous releases here.

“Cryptic Revelations” – Post-mortem*

French death metallers Post-mortem recently announced that fans can expect a new album, The Monumental Pandemonium. But while we wait for it drop worldwide on April 29th, the band has given us fans a new track to headbang to in the meantime called “Cryptic Revelations”. This song is fast and brutally heavy. And it’s definitely one that the pit will go wild for. Preorders for Post-mortem’s new album The Monumental Pandemonium, are available here, along with some Post-mortem merch. “Cryptic Revelations” is not on Spotify currently, so make sure to check out the band’s video for it below!
