Looking for Alternative Fashion Masks?

I’ve been social distancing for several months like many of us here in the Northeastern United States. When it’s necessary for me to be in public though, I always wear my mask. With coronavirus cases on the rise, several states and retailers have now issued mask mandates. If you weren’t wearing one before you might find yourself in the market for one now. Personally, I don’t mind wearing a mask especially when I can wear one that reflects my style or personality. When first thinking about this post, I had intended to talk about where I got my alternative fashion masks. To my surprise, when I went on the retailer’s website, all of their masks are no longer available.

There could be a multitude of reasons they’re no longer carrying them. However, regardless I found myself asking the question of where I could find masks that were similar. There are still some larger alternative fashion brands that sell masks such as Blackcraft, but even these shops don’t have a huge variety of options. Luckily, I found a large variety of alternative fashion masks for goths, ghouls, and everyone in between on Etsy.

**I haven’t personally ordered from each of these shops, so please make sure that you read the reviews before buying. This is just me simply giving you an initial list of research. Furthermore, the masks featured are cloth fashion face masks and they are not medical grade. **

1. Pursephone Boutique

Pursephone Boutique has a variety of different alternative fashion mask patterns you can choose from. They have everything from warm tones, to black and white, and even spooky bright! They also sell a variety of really cute bags and hats like this witchy Vertebrae Medallion Beaded Western Hat.

2. Batcakes Couture

Batcakes Couture has a TON of alternative fashion masks in different styles and patterns. You can find lace masks like the one shown above if you’re looking to dress them up, or even glow in the dark masks like this spider web design. Not only do they sell masks, but Batcakes Couture also sells crowns, hats, and everything in between. This one person operation has built up quite the reputation. According to the shop’s about section, Academy Award winner Diablo Cody even wore a Batcakes Couture veil at her wedding.

3. Fendywitch Designs

Fendywitch Designs specializes in amazing witchy related items such as jewelry, mugs, patches, and stickers as well as alternative fashion masks. At the current moment, several of their masks are at a discounted price including the one shown above. They are also donating 50% of the process from this Black Lives Matter Face Mask to the Movement for Black Lives.

4. Razo Boutique

Razo Boutique has alternative fashion masks that cater to horror lovers, goths, and witches in addition to a few baseball and softball related masks. Razo also carriers a variety of alternative fashion related products such as make up bags, tote bags, shirts, and more. They definitely have something for everyone including moms. Check out this It related tote bag or this I Survived La Chancla Tote, both of which speak straight to my soul.

Why should you wear a mask?

Not only are several places mandating it now if they have not already, but wearing a mask protects other people from being infected by you which is very important considering that you can be sick with Covid 19 and not show any symptoms. I find it really disturbing that so many people have been brainwashed into thinking it’s harmful or that just refuse due to misinformation that is continuously spread throughout our media. I’ve given you ideas here, but a face mask for general use can be as simple as a bandanna that you have folded into a face covering.

I am thankful that I have been able to be at home for the most part during this tumultuous time especially since I am considered to be at a higher risk, but many people including essential workers like my husband do not have that luxury. Please keep in mind that our essential workers have helped us make it this far by keeping these essential services running which includes providing medical care, selling you groceries, and fixing your vehicles. Without them, we’re screwed. By blatantly refusing to do something so simple as wearing a mask, you are giving a giant middle finger to those essential workers who still are risking their life to save yours.
