Another week means another New Music Monday! This week we’re exploring new heavy tracks from emerging artists like Tallah. We also have some new music from alternative metal titans, Deftones.
Don’t forget to listen along with my Spotify playlist. It has all of these songs ready for you so all you need to do is hit play.
1. “Overconfidence” – Tallah
“Overconfidence” is off of Tallah’s upcoming debut album ‘Matriphagy’ which is set to be released on October 2nd via Earache Records. It’s intensely heavy while carrying dark and eerie undertones throughout. Their Slipknot and Linkin Park influences definitely shine on this track. Do yourself a favor and check out the video they released for this song.
Max Portnoy, son of Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy, is on drums for Tallah. I was also pretty excited to see that these guys are from my home state of PA so I’m hoping I’ll get to see them live once Covid is over. Tallah is crushing it with the new music they’ve released so far, and I truly think they’re going to explode. ‘Matriphagy’ is available for preorder here.
2. “Ohms” – Deftones
Deftones are back with some HIGHLY anticipated new music and it’s freaking awesome. For me, this song is like chicken soup for the soul after the disaster that has been 2020. “Ohms” is the title track of their upcoming album due out on September 25th via Warner Records.
It’s the first single they’ve released in 4 years and it has that classic Deftones sound that fans know and love. The band also released a new music video for this single that I highly recommend checking out. It’s mostly performance based and if you’re missing concerts like me, it hits the spot. Deftones currently has multiple merch bundles available for ‘Ohms’ that you can preorder now.
3. “Make It Better” – Lung Glass
Lung Glass appears to be a relatively new band and they’re based out of the UK. “Make It Better” is the 2nd song the band has released and I am so hoping for more from them! They kind of remind me of Corrosion of Conformity, especially on this track. While they do not have an album out yet, they do have merch you can preorder now to show your support. Make sure to also follow Lung Glass on Instagram so you can stay up to date on their latest releases.
4. “Bird On A Chain” – Florence Black
“Bird On A Chain” booms from the second it starts, taking us on a heavy and fast paced ride. While there’s no word yet on a new album, Florence Black does have merch up for sale for this track. The UK trio just hit number one with this song on the iTunes rock chart in the UK and if they keep putting out tracks like this, it may be the first of many. I would also recommend giving them a follow on Instagram so you can stay in the loop on their new music releases. For my friends in the UK, Florence Black also has some tour dates listed beginning at the end of 2020 through 2021.
