This week’s New Music Monday is full of tracks you definitely don’t want to miss. Mr. Bungle gave us another taste of what we can expect from their new album (and it’s amazing). We’re also jamming to new releases from Corey Taylor and more!
Don’t forget that you can listen along with my Spotify playlist. All of these songs are lined up for you there so all you’ll need to do is hit play.
1. “Eracist” – Mr. Bungle
“Eracist” is the second new song Mr. Bungle has dropped off of their upcoming album ‘The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny’. This wildly heavy track is an absolute must listen. In addition to Trey Spruance and Trevor Dunn, Mr. Bungle also includes metal heavy weights Mike Patton, Scott Ian, and Dave Lombardo. The band’s new album is a rerecording of their 1986 demo and it will be their first new album is 21 years. ‘The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny’ will be released on October 30 through Mike Patton’s Ipecac Recordings. You can preorder it as well as the band’s new merch here.
2. “Culture Head” – Corey Taylor
“Culture Head” is the latest single Corey Taylor has dropped from his new album ‘CMFT’ due out this Friday October 2nd via Roadrunner Records. It’s definitely his most aggressive new song so far. “Culture Head” reminds me very much of Stone Sour’s ‘House of Gold and Bones’ albums which I really liked so I am loving this track. Corey will also be performing his new material plus Slipknot and Stone Sour songs on his October 2nd live stream. You can get tickets to his live stream and preorder his new album here.
3. “Rewind Me” – Seeds of Mary
Seeds of Mary just released their new album ‘Serendipity’ which is where you’ll find this haunting new track. This song is so completely electrifying and it’s just what I needed to start off the Fall. ‘Serendipity’ is available for you to listen to now. Pick up a copy here.
4. “Screaming From Beyond” – Spirit Adrift
Spirit Adrift will be releasing their new album ‘Enlightened In Eternity’ on October 16 via Century Media. “Screaming From Beyond” comes off of that. The band has explained this powerfully heavy song is about death, loss, grief, mourning, and struggling with the idea of an afterlife, or the lack of one. You can preorder Spirit Adrift’s new album and merch here.
5. “Tuskegee” – Zeal & Ardor
“Tuskegee” is the third track Zeal & Ardor have released from their upcoming EP ‘Wake of a Nation’. Zeal & Ardor stated on Instagram that this new EP is the reaction to the racial injustice we’ve seen in recent months. “This record is for Michael Brown, Eric Garner, George Floyd, and the countless untold and nameless killed. It is for the brave souls willing to take a stand and ready to risk their own well being so that others may have theirs intact.”
Something that makes Zeal & Ardor so special is their unique blend of gospel, blues, and black metal influences. It’s incredible and there’s just nothing quite like it. Zeal & Ardor said they’re also donating all revenue from the sales and streams of their prior single “I Can’t Breathe”. ‘Wake of a Nation’ will be released on October 23rd. In the meantime, you can preorder it here.
6. “Lesson Learned” – Lung Glass
Just in case you missed the premiere of “Lesson Learned” from Lung Glass on Saturday, I wanted to include it here. It’s definitely one you’ll want to have on your playlist this week. “Lesson Learned” focuses on the idea of saving yourself and in turn saving others, so many people are quick to discard you and put themselves before you. “It’s about identifying that and not wasting time with people who don’t deserve it,” according to the band’s drummer, Hendo. So you don’t miss out on future releases, make sure to keep up with Lung Glass on their social media.
