1. “Malignance” – Enforced

Enforced’s new thrash metal track “Malignance” could not be more fitting for the current times. This brutally intense banger comes off the Virginia band’s forthcoming album ‘Kill Grid’. It’s not set to be released through Century Media until March 12th, but you can place your preorder here in the meantime.

2. “Caddy Daddy” – Melvins

Melvins’ new song “Caddy Daddy” comes off of their new album “Working With God”. Melvins is a band that is no stranger to rotating their line up, both with new and old band members. This new record has reunited the sludge metallers’ 1983 line up, making it their first record together since 2013. “Working With God” is set to be released on February 26th. You can preorder it here.

3. “And So It Went” – The Pretty Reckless feat. Tom Morello

The Pretty Reckless will be releasing their highly anticipated new album ‘Death By Rock and Roll’ on February 12th. “And So It Went” is the first collaborative track we’re getting to hear off of that release. This catchy jam featuring guitar hero Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave) is sure to have you banging your head and throwing your fist in the air. ‘Death by Rock and Roll’ is available for preorder here.

4. “Eternal Nocturnal” – Evergrey

While the global Covid-19 pandemic has been raging, progressive power metallers Evergrey put their lockdown time to good use by writing and recording a new album. ‘Escape of the Phoenix’ is due to be released on February 26th, which is where you’ll find “Eternal Nocturnal”. This song soars throughout with powerful vocals and instrumentals. When those low vocals kick in halfway through the chorus, though, it takes things to another level. And did I mention there’s also an INSANE guitar solo in here? You can place your preorder for ‘Escape of the Phoenix’ here.

5. “Mammon” – Gaupa

If I could choose a song as my theme music for 2021, or even just this week “Mammon” would be it. It’s the first single that Sweden’s Gaupa has dropped following the release of their debut album last spring. From the second it starts, “Mammon” transports you into a different world with it’s hypnotic riffs, mesmerizing vocals, and pulse pounding drums. If you’re looking for some amazing stoner doom, you need to give this a listen.

While there’s no word yet on another album, “Mammon” and the band’s previous releases can be found on their Bandcamp page. I’d also recommend giving Gaupa a follow on Instagram so you don’t miss out on future releases.

6. “DANCE” – Cellar Darling

Before I say anything about this beautiful prog-metal masterpiece, I need you to know that this song is going to get stuck in your head. It will pop in there at random times, and you’re going to love every second of it. Just trust me.

“DANCE” was initially intended to be on Cellar Darling’s concept album “The Spell”, but it didn’t make the cut. The band decided to revisit it about a year ago, but rewrote all of the lyrics and most of the music. The new inspiration for the song comes from both the dancing plague of 1518 and an engagement with the modern world. With the new track, Cellar Darling poses a good question. “Doesn’t it sometimes feel like we’re in the process of dancing ourselves to death?”

“DANCE” is available to stream now. Cellar Darling is also releasing a limited physical edition copy on a 10 inch picture disc vinyl which will be signed, hand numbered, and issued by the band. You can pick that up here, along with additional merch for “DANCE”.
