June 2022 definitely brought the heat, and I’m not just talking about scorching temperatures. Musically this past month brought us a bunch of hot and heavy tracks to headbang to. And they’re all included in this month’s list of the top heavy songs of June 2022.
There’s a wide variety of music included this month from new songs from bands like The Warning, as well as highly anticipated new music from artists like Alexisonfire. And as always, some songs and/or bands from this month’s playlist have also been added to some of my other playlists like Underground Metal and Metal Women.
Listen to my New Music Monthly playlist and check out the Monthly Highlights below for more details on some of these new and noteworthy releases. And don’t forget to vote for your favorite heavy new tracks of the month at the bottom of the page! Voting will end just before next month’s edition, at 12am EST on July 30th. The songs with the most votes at that time will be added to our Best Songs of 2022 list at the end of the year.
NEW Heavy SONGS OF June 2022: MONTHLY HIGHLIGHTS
“Contrived Constraint” – Parasite Caste
Chugging, sludgy, and explosive riffs and drums kick things off on Parasite Caste’s newest single “Contrived Constraint”. Quickly, the pace begins to increase and before you know it, you’re confronted with in your face vocals and face melting instrumentals. “Contrived Constraint” is wildly raw and heavy, with an old school punk and hardcore feel. And Terminus Hate City’s Jay Crash echos that sentiment when talking about Parasite Caste. “I love their lyrics, and always get a sense of that oldschool “activism hardcore punk” vibe from them…even though they are sludge, their crossover game is brilliant,” he says. For those metalheads that that love both metal AND punk, you absolutely must hear Parasite Caste. Listen to Parasite Caste and keep up with them on these platforms.
“Don’t Feed Me Your Lies” – Venom Inc.
I was instantly intrigued as soon as “Don’t Feed Me Your Lies” began. This new single from Venom Inc. has a little of everything for metal fans. Roaring vocals, an anthem like chorus for fans to shout, a monstrosously heavy, pit worthy breakdown, mysterious and engaging riffs that will put you in a trance- And let’s not forget about those drums that boom so hard it feels like someone is lighting a fire under your ass. To call them just pulse pounding would be an understatement. “Don’t Feed Me Your Lies” is the second single Venom Inc. have released from their upcoming album, There’s Only Black. It won’t be released until September 23rd. But pre-orders are available here in the meantime.
“Wreck It” – Downset
“Wreck It” by downset. starts off with that really heavy bass that I LOVE to hear in a song. Some might be surprised to hear a song with such heavy rap and hip hop elements on this month’s playlist. But you shouldn’t be, especially if we’re talking about rap/hardcore pioneers, such as downset. If you’re a fan of artists like Body Count, you’re going to love this track. “Wreck It” comes off of downset.’s new album Maintain, which dropped this month. And if this type of heavy music is up your alley, you’ll definitely want to hear the whole album. Stream it or purchase it here.
“Run For Your Life” – Tabahi
Pakistan’s Tabahi gave us an immensely heavy thrash attack this month with their new single, “Run For Your Life.” Not only are Tabahi the only thrashers in Pakistan with lyrical content targeting the socio-political environment. But the band’s name is also an Urdu language word that means “Destruction”, and is heavily inspired by Legendary Teutonic Thrash Metal Bands such as Destruction, Sodom, and Kreator, along with classic 86 Bay Area thrash metal bands, Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax, Exodus. That classic thrash metal vibe is very present in “Run For Your Life”, making it a must listen for heavy music fans.
The song itself focuses on the struggles and challenges behind living in one of the most dangerous cities of Pakistan, according to the band. And the band’s corresponding music video echos their rebellious theme, with all the high energy headbanging this kind of track needs. Watch the video below and check out their previous releases on BandCamp, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and Amazon Music.
“Chattel of Tyrants” – Awaken The Ancient
With a traditional death metal feel, “Chattel of Tyrants” is sure to have you moshing in your living room. Couch pillows beware! Because Awaken the Ancient is the type of band that’s so heavy, you can’t help but rage. “Chattel of Tyrants” hold true to that, bringing relentless, ruthless aggression both vocally and instrumentally. Besides jamming to it on this month’s NMM Spotify playlist, headbang to it on these platforms.
“Atlas AS7-A” – Effigy
London’s Effigy released their debut EP, Oneironaut, this month. And if you’re a fan of stoner doom and heavy psych rock like I am, you won’t want to miss it. “Atlas AS7-A” kicks things off on that release, immediately grabbing your attention with it’s catchy and hypnotic riff. It’s one of those tracks that feels like you’re traveling through the musical universe, especially as the instrumentals intensify. This song isn’t available on Spotify and as such, you won’t find it on this month’s playlist. So make sure to listen to “Atlas AS7-A” below, along with the whole EP. You can also jam out to Effigy and Oneironaut here on Bandcamp.
