Hello and Happy New Music Monday! There was SO MUCH awesome new music released this past week. To the point that narrowing it down to just a top 6 this week was impossible. Because of that I’m giving you my top 7 new heavy tracks this week which includes Tetrarch’s new song and more!
New Music Monday 2/8/21: Tetrarch’s New Song & More!
Before we get started, don’t forget that you can listen along with my Spotify playlist. It has all of these songs lined up for you so you can just hit play.
1. “You Never Listen” – Tetrarch
The title for Tetrarch’s new song is slightly ironic, because I haven’t been able to stop listening to it all weekend. They’re set to release their second album, ‘Unstable’ on April 30th and “You Never Listen” comes off of that. In Tetrarch’s new song, vocalist Josh Fore really shines while experimenting with a slightly lower vocal range than I think we’re used to in their previous releases. It’s also incredibly catchy and has made fans like myself even more excited for the new album to drop. You can preorder your copy of ‘Unstable’ here.
I was lucky enough to chat with Tetrarch guitarist Diamond Rowe last summer about the new album. If you missed our interview, you can check it out here.
2. “Ghost Shaped People” – Lamb of God
Over the weekend I realized that Lamb of God has lowkey been one of my favorite bands for years. Everything they put out is just amazing in my eyes and “Ghost Shaped People” is no exception. This heavy new song is one of the bonus tracks being released on the deluxe edition of the band’s self titled album that came out early last summer. It will also include a live album and DVD from Lamb of God’s live stream last fall, in addition to an encore featuring the live debut of “The Death of Us”. It won’t be released until March 26th but you can preorder it here in the meantime.
Lamb of God’s self titled album was one of my best metal albums of 2020. Read more about it and find out what else made my the list here.
3. “What I Leave Behind” – Cult of Luna
Sweden’s Cult of Luna just released their new EP ‘The Raging River’ which is where you’ll find “What I Leave Behind”. I love a track that’s dark, heavy, and completely hypnotic and that’s exactly what Cult of Luna delivers here. The main riff is one that will stick with you long after you’re done listening. ‘The Raging River’ is available everywhere now. Stream it or order it here.
4. “Scorpion Hymn” – ERRA
ERRA brings us some heavy new metalcore this week with “Scorpion Hymn”. It comes from the band’s upcoming self titled album which is due out on March 19th. “Scorpion Hymn” packs a punch with it’s pure aggression, making it an absolute banger. If you’re a fan of bands like Currents and Periphery, you’re going to love ERRA. While we’re waiting for their new album to be released, you can preorder it here.
5. “AWOL” – Every Time I Die
Every Time I Die initially released “AWOL” to fans back in December that purchased tickets to their live stream titled “Every Time I Die’s Online Telethon Extravaganza to Raise $69 for the Members of Every Time I Die”. While we’re still waiting for word on their new album, “AWOL” is now available to stream on your favorite platform. It has that intense, unhinged energy that you can only find in a band like Every Time I Die. “AWOL” will keep you banging your head all week long. Make sure to give it a listen here.
6. “Hell Unleashed” – Evile
Evile will be releasing their fifth studio album, ‘Hell Unleashed’ on April 30th. The British thrash metal band has released the title track as our first taste for what’s to come- and it’s awesome! “Hell Unleashed” is the first new music Evile has released in 8 years. If it’s any indication of what the rest of the album will be like, it’s definitely one you’ll want to preorder.
7. “Inhumane Harvest” – Cannibal Corpse
One of the biggest releases this week is definitely the new Cannibal Corpse song, “Inhumane Harvest”. This brutally heavy track will be on the band’s new album ‘Violence Unimagined’ which is being released on April 16th. It’s the first Cannibal Corpse song we’re hearing with new guitarist Erik Rutan (Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal), who also produced the album. ‘Violence Unimagined’ can be preordered here.
