New Metal Tracks Week of August 10th, 2020
“Another World” – Gojira
Let me start this off by saying that like many metal fans, I love Gojira and I was super excited to see they released new music. It’s the first new song that the French heavy metal band has released in four years. When it comes to musically capturing pure human emotion, Gojira nails it. “Another World” is no exception to that, especially given the current state of affairs. Sci-Fi fans will also appreciate the music video Gojira released for this song, which they’ve said is their take on 1968’s Planet of the Apes.
“North Star of Nija” – Orbit Culture
Sweden’s Orbit Culture just released their new album ‘Nija’ which is where you will find this seriously heavy track. I love their blend of harsh and clean vocals while staying consistently heavy throughout. I also think that Orbit Culture is a newer band that is going to explode. If you haven’t been listening to them, I would get familiar with them now! ‘Nija’ is available everywhere so make sure to check it out.
“Force of Life” – In Hearts Wake
In Hearts Wake has also just released their new album ‘Kaliyuga’ and it’s available for you to stream now. “Force of Life” is off of that release. This song booms from the second it starts. I also dare you to not get the catchy chorus stuck in your head, because it’s impossible. In Hearts Wake will also be doing a live stream this Thursday, August 13th at 8pm AEST so make sure to check it out if you can. For my friends in the US, that’s 6am EST.
“Again” – Black Stone Cherry
Before we move any further, you should know that this technically isn’t a metal song. It’s hard rock BUT this wouldn’t be called The Versatile Virgo if I wasn’t versatile! 🙂 It’s also a great song, and I’m never going to not include something because it doesn’t fit a certain mold. “Again” has that classic southern rock sound that Black Stone Cherry is known for. It’s off of Black Stone Cherry’s upcoming album ‘The Human Condition’ which is due out on October 30th. This will be the Kentucky hard rockers’ seventh studio album and it is available for preorder now.
