Another new week calls for more new metal music!

New Metal Music Releases for August 3, 2020
1. “Fallen Torches” – Mastodon
“Fallen Torches” will be on Mastodon’s new compilation ‘Medium Rarities’ which is scheduled to be released on September 11th. This cosmically heavy track keeps that classic Mastodon sound that fans crave. ‘Medium Rarities’ will feature cover songs, one-off singles, instrumentals, and live recordings. It’s available for preorder now.
2. “CMFT Must Be Stopped” – Corey Taylor feat. Tech N9ne and Kid Bookie
This song has been stuck in my head for DAYS. It’s also now going to be stuck in your head if it’s not already. Corey Taylor released this track and “Black Eyes Blue” just a few days ago which will be on his first ever solo album ‘CMFT’. The 2nd track is much more of an alternative style song. This track though is everything I expected from a solo Corey Taylor in the best way possible. It’s grandiose and pure rock and roll. Not to mention, I really like Tech N9ne and I was very excited to see he and Corey teamed up together.
Corey Taylor also released a video for this track and it’s definitely worth checking out. There are a bunch of cameos in it from faces you might recognize like Marilyn Manson, Randy Blythe, Nergal, Lzzy Hale, Rob Halford, and many more.
3. “Extermination” – Upon A Burning Body
Upon A Burning Body just released their latest EP ‘Built From War’ which is where you can find this track. I loved Upon A Burning Body’s last album ‘Southern Hostility’ (which I highly recommend you listen to if you haven’t yet). This track in particular takes me right back to the feel I got from that album. The Texas heavy metal band gives us a much needed adrenaline dose with this aggressively booming song, making it a necessity for a Monday.
4. “More Than Human” – Damnation Angels
“More Than Human” is off of Damnation Angels’ latest album release ‘Fiber of Our Being’. Symphonic Metal isn’t something I usually gravitate towards. However, I’ve found myself over the last few days pining to listen to this again and again. While this is the UK band’s third album, it is the first with vocalist Iggy Rod and bassist Nic Southwood. It’s just such a fantastic song from beginning to end with killer instrumentals and powerful vocals. ‘Fiber of Our Being’ is out now and waiting for you to listen to it.
5. “The Colors of Grace” – Oceans of Slumber
Let me first just preface this with saying that finding Oceans of Slumber has been one of the highlights of my 2020.
While this song is a change of pace from those listed above, don’t let that fool you into thinking that this isn’t a deeply crushing metal song. Vocalist Cammie Gilbert is an absolute powerhouse. Her duet with Antimatter’s Mick Moss on this track is so good it will melt you into the floor. This song will be on the progressive metal band’s upcoming self-titled album due out September 4th.
