NEW MUSIC MONDAY Playlist FOR THE WEEK OF 2/22/21: New Gojira & More!
Before we get started, don’t forget that you can listen along with my Spotify playlist. It has all of these songs lined up for you so you can just hit play.
1. “Born For One Thing” – Gojira
Fans have been anxiously waiting for the new Gojira album after 2016’s Magma. Back in August they released their first single in 4 years, “Another World”, but there was no concrete info on when an album would be released. Then, just last week the band started teasing the album on social media and on their website. Shortly after, Gojira announced their new album, Fortitude, will be released on April 30th while simultaneously releasing this brand new single.
“Born For One Thing” is the latest taste we’re getting for what’s to come from Gojira, and so far, it’s pretty fucking awesome. Now, let the countdown to April 30th begin! Preorders for Fortitude are available here.
2. “Fuck Everything” – Death Blooms
Death Blooms recently announced that their new EP Fuck Everything is set to be released on March 17th. This is the brutally heavy title track and 3rd single the band has dropped so far. You can preorder Death Bloom’s new EP and pick up some merch here.
3. “Decay” – Void of Vision feat. Ecca Vandal
I just need to start this off by saying, I LOVE THIS RIFF! “Decay” is the hypnotically heavy new single that you absolutely need on your playlist this week. It was initially released on Void of Vision’s 2019 album Hyperdaze, but in this new version they’ve teamed up with Ecca Vandal. “Decay” was released just weeks after their collaboration with Thornhill on “Year of the Rat”. 4. “We Drift On” – The Crown
The Crown is set to release their new album Royal Destroyer on March 12th. “We Drift On” comes off of that release, bringing a more mellow vibe that still crushes. While we’re waiting for Royal Destroyer to drop, you can preorder it here.
5. “Desert Dread” – Ghost Iris feat. Mark Hunter
“Desert Dread” comes off of Ghost Iris’s upcoming album, Comatose, which is due out on May 7th. The Danish metalcore band teamed up with Chimaira vocalist Mark Hunter for this intensely heavy track. I’ve been loving what Ghost Iris has released recently and I can’t wait for what’s to come after hearing this. Preorders for Comatose are available here.
6. “Remember When” – Chevelle
You have to appreciate how consistent Chevelle is. They are one band that can take pure raw emotion and turn it into beautifully heavy music every damn time. “Remember When” is a great example of that. It comes from Chevelle’s new album ‘NIRATIAS’ which is set to be released on March 5th. In the meantime, you can preorder it here.
